SUBJECT: Top Tips Day 3: Squeezing Every Last Drop
-----------------------------------------------
Hi Guys

If you are anything like me in the early days, Id be so glad to get something up and running, Id figuratively put
my feet up and just wait for the cash to come rolling in.

And do you know on the whole it did.

What I didnt realise is that I was missing out on a whole bunch of subscribers and therefore sales.

Why I hear you shout?

To try to answer that, let me ask you a question

How many times in the real world did you complete something and it was the best it could be?

The answer for most of us mere mortals is rarely!

There is always something that can be improved, to make it better.

The same is true with an online business.

Which brings me to the topic of Split testing.

If you are not familiar with split testing, it is the principle of splitting traffic between two destinations to
see which is most effective.

It may sound boring and a waste of time, but you would be amazed what a difference it can make in the long term.

As an example, let us say that you have created a lovely squeeze page that you are rightly proud of.

Lets say it is converting at 40%, so for every 100 people who land on your page, 40 are signing up for the gift.

None too shabby and something that you might be quite happy with.

BUT, is it the best result possible.

Would a different headline make a difference

Would a different background increase the conversion rate.

In fact would changes to any of the elements of the squeeze page make an improvement?

Well rather than guess, this is where split testing comes in.

What you need to do is create a variation on your first squeeze page design.

It might be using a completely different type of squeeze page or just a tweak...

...You decide.

Having got your two versions, you need to split your traffic so that each of the pages gets sent the same amount of the traffic.

After a period of time you can see how the pages are performing.

Is your original pages converting best, or is it the variation.

Rather than guessing, you now have the facts.

An increase of only 5% in your conversion rate means you are going to get an extra 5 subscribers for every 100 people who
see your offer.

These are extra subscribers to your list in effect for free.

Over a period of time this can make big difference to the size of your list and the income you are earning.

This is all well and good, but even if I have sold you on the idea, you may be wondering how you can carry out a split
test.

Well the good news is that with a small amount of knowledge, you can use the tools supplied freely by Google to carry out
a test.

If you are someone who doesnt have too much time or who wants to simplify the process, I have also found a great
little bit of software.

It does split testing by filling a few fields, but it is so much more than that.

It does click tracking; it is a link shortener, and a whole bunch of other stuff for a one off payment.

As I say, you dont need to invest in software to do split testing (See the Google training), but for a one off investment it could save you a whole lot of time and effort.
